To experience stillness in your life does not require shutting down your senses or building a barrier to the chaos of an energetic, alive and unpredictable world. As you bring focus to your breath, you sustain an awareness of an inner space of quiet constancy, the peaceful Observer, while the world around you spins and twirls.                                                                                    The Way of Joy

Still 1Have you ever experienced a moment of stillness when things are hectic and rushed all around you? It might happen, for example, in the middle of a city crowd at rush hour when, for no particular reason, you tune into the sound of an infant laughing, a coin dropping, or a particularly musical sneeze. Stillness exists in a rainstorm when you find yourself pausing for just a moment and doing nothing but listening to the rhythm of water dripping off a tree branch or onto the windowsill. When you experience the present moment in this way, you develop the ability to shift your experience of linear time — in a sense, you enter a time out of time.

Things have been such a mad rush in my life these days that I have been looking to find that inner state of stillness, presence and power, even in the face of my own resistance or those times when I have to go for the gold and push through my own fatigue.
