Growing Pains and Success: Qigong for Grounding

Flower cascadeInner demons are the protectors of the gates of transition.      Way of Joy

I’ve been feeling my knees a lot the past few days. It could be because I kinda over-extended myself physically last weekend, but I also know I’ve been going through some major growth spurts. A Qigong master teacher once told me that our knees represent climbing to a new level of understanding and empowerment.

It has been interesting to me how quickly and inexorably my doubts come crowding in when I achieve a certain level of success or visibility — for example after recently receiving the honor of being inducted into the “Women’s Martial Artists Hall of Fame”.

Now these aches have been making me ask, “can you have growing pains even at the ripe old age of 60?” Given what I’m feeling right now, I’d say the answer is, “YES, absolutely!” Better get back to my practice!

    Dear Vicki
Thank you for reminding me that doubts are democratic. They come up even for those that I see as extremely accomplished and capable. Sort of gets me out of that “poor me” place. Especially when I have a Qigong exercise to help move the energy.

Darling Vicki, This was just what I needed. I did the exercise as best I could and it made me feel much better. The sad thing is that after 18 operations on both arms for rotator cuff troubles, I find myself again in terrible pain. I won’t take narcotics, so I rely on occasional shots and Lidoderm patches for relief. But not much is helping right now. That’s why your blog and today’s exercise was so great. I also have a pain in my right knee which I now consider an honor that I’m going forward. If you have any Qi exercises for ruined arms, please let me know. Much love, Cathy
